Space technology is the manifestation of a country’s comprehensive strength, craftformation flying technology gains more and more national attention. UWB(Ultra-wideband, UWB) originated from cause of national defense. It has a high datatransfer rate, low device complexity, high interference resistance and confidentiality.Therefore, UWB technology is used in craft formation flying communication system,which is DS-UWB craft formation flying communication system. This article focuseson the multi-user detection algorithm in DS-UWB communication systemand its FPGAimplementation.This article describes a variety of multi-user detection techniques, includingoptimal multi-user detector, decorrelation detector, the minimum mean square errordetector and a joint multi-user detector based on bits mapping and symbols detection.The joint multi-user detector based on bits mapping and symbols detection map the bitsfrom matched filter to the feature space, so that it is easier to classify the right or wrongbits. The mapped bits are classified by threshold classifer, and using the mappedfunction·s symbol information error classification is mostly excluded. Simulation resultsshow that compared to traditional linear detector, the joint multi-user detector has lowerbit error rate, lower computational complexity, stronger anti-near-far effect and greatersystem capacity, moreover, the method approaches to the optimal multiuser detector·sBER. Therefore, the joint detector has great theoretical and practical value.In this paper, the joint detector is realized on the senior FPGA developmentboard.The algorithm module in FPGA is welled pipelined and paralleled, providinghigher system speed and real-time performance. Furthermore, a verification methodsbased on on-chip signal source and SignalTapII and a serial-based MATLAB and FPGAcombined bit error rate test methods is proposed in this paper, which is more simple andeffective than the traditional validation and testing way.
