Wireless sensor network (WSN) considered as a new field of technology has widepotential usage, and ranging and location are the foundation of it, so it has attracted lotsof scholars to study it. Taking into account UWB’s characteristic low power dissipation,low hardware complexity and strong anti-jamming, UWB is used to realize ranging andlocation. As the error of ranging measurement is high in non-line of sight channel, errorcorrection based on SVR is adopted. The details are as follows:Firstly, considering the application of WSN, UWB is adopted here. The articlesimulates UWB signal and UWB transmission channel. After analyzing the problems ofgenerating signal, transmission and receiving, simulation is carried out. Through thesimulation, it is easy to see that UWB channel has dense multipath, especially innon-line of sight channel.Secondly, some existing algorithm is analyzed, including MES and TC. Then atwo-step way based on ranging roughly and ranging precisely is adopted. In roughlyranging, MES and TC algorithm is modified by the fourth order; in precisely ranging,dynamic threshold is used to promote the ability of the algorithm.Thirdly, paying attention to the error of ranging, especially in non-line of sight channel,a new kind of error correction is proposed based on SVR (Support Vector Regression).This kind of method is easy to go on. Extract some particular features of the receivedsignal and send them into the trained model, then the model can outcome the errorestimate. Simulation show that error correction based on SVR can perform quite well incorrecting the ranging error.At last, LSE location algorithm is introduced and used in the article. Ranging errorand the number of anchors are the key factor to location error. Simulation show thatreducing ranging error and increasing the number of anchors can result in lower locationerror and reducing ranging error is the most fundamental way to improve locationaccuracy. According to the ranging result above, two-dimensional location andthree-dimensional location are simulated. The simulation result proves that the locationsystem proposed by this article performs very well and the relative error can lower than1%, which is able to meet the need of node location in WSN application.
