Camera for image capture and transmission is moving in the development of high speed, highframe rate, high-resolution, high quality, and real-time direction. The USB2.0transfer speed is upto480Mb/s and it supports plug-and-play, so it can meet the market’s needs. The quality of imageis related to the automatic exposure algorithm, automatic white balance algorithm and unevenillumination correction algorithm. This paper study of many classical exposure algorithms, whitebalance algorithms and uneven illumination algorithms, and propose the new auto exposurealgorithm, automatic white balance algorithm and uneven illumination correction algorithm whichcombine with the classical algorithms’ advantage.The new algorithms can meet the video’s high-speed need.The paper first discusses the overall design of the high-resolution camera system based onUSB2.0, then in-depth study of the sensor module, USB2.0interface control module, applicationmodule based on DirectShow, image process algorithms module and so on. The system uses theCMOS sensor MT9P031to capture image data, and sends the data to the USB2.0interface chipCy7c68013a which from CYPRESS Company, then USB2.0interface chip transfers image data tothe driver on the PC through bulk transfer mode. Finally, PC driver sends the image data to theAMCAP application to preview, and embedded in the application of the automatic exposurealgorithm, automatic white balance algorithm, and uneven illumination correction algorithm. Theapplication can send commands to the USB2.0interface chip to change the camera attributes. Thecommands send to the USB2.0interface chip through control transfer mode, and then the chipreads or writes the sensor’s registers through I2C interface to achieve the purpose of changingimage attributes, make the image meet our needs. In the last of the paper is the system summaryand outlook.Experimental results show that the designed high-resolution camera system can complete thehigh-speed transfer of image data and real-time display. Algorithm modules and driver modules’performance can meet the design needs.
