With the rapid development of embedded technology, the virtualization technology inembedded system has become a hot issue. It has the advantages of integrating functions anddecreasing development cost. Unlike to improve system flexibility by traditional computersystem virtualization, the virtualization technology applied in embedded system can get abalance among system security, real-time and functionality. The famous Japanese embeddedreal-time system software platform TOPPERS developes a variety of real-time kernels andrelated software, and provides the source code for its development achievements, this thesishas made research on one of TOPPERS’s achievements--embedded virtual machine SafeGbased on ARM TrustZone.Beginning with the overall framework of embedded virtual machine SafeG, the thesisanalyses the theory of ARM TrustZone, then deeply explores SafeG theory, use-method andimplementation, gives some examples of specific application areas for SafeG. In order toachieve simultaneously running two operation systems, the thesis introduces the structureand features of real-time kernel TOPPERS/ASP and porting process of real-time kernelTOPPERS/ASP in detail, accomplishs porting and running real-time kernel TOPPERS/ASPon microcontroller DM3730(ARM Cortex-A8core) evaluation board from TI company,which provides reference to the use of real-time kernel TOPPERS/ASP, and fulfills runningLinux kernel on the evaluation board. The thesis ports and runs SafeG on the simulatorQEMU supporting ARM TrustZone technology, and implements two operation systemsrunning on embedded virtual machine SafeG based on real-time kernel TOPPERS/ASP,carrys out different virtual machine experiments on the simulator QEMU for differentapplication requirements, proves the feasibility of embedded virtual machine SafeG inpractical application.
