A large dynamic range streak camera with quite high time resolution has to bedeveloped for the ultrafast phenomena research, as the ultrafast diagnostic equipment.In order to improve the dynamic range and the time resolution of streak tube,several factors influencing the spatial and temporal characteristics, are analyzed. Thedesign ideas is that using a cylindrical electrode type electro-optical system,increasing accelerate voltage between the cathode and the grid, and reducing thelength of focusing area, and. Then the photoelectrons transit time, and the influence ofthe space charge effect on the dynamic range and the time resolution is reducedeffectively.The main parameters of the large dynamic streak image tube are that the long ofthe tube is about450mm, and the theoretical time resolution is less than1ps.The development of the avalanche transistor scanning circuit is introduced,including the circuit design and stability analysis, and the theory of the avalanchetransistors, and the choice principle of the avalanche transistors. Then the product andexperimental test of the scanning circuit box is completed.. Meanwhile, the MOSFETscanning circuit is introduced.With the Nd:YLF laser, the large dynamic range streak tube are verified byexperiment. The results show that the dynamic range is more than1000; the dynamicspatial resolution is over the15lp/mm; and the time resolution is less than14ps.
