Aircraft assembly work accounts for more than half of the total aircraft manufacturing workload. The assembly process is easily influenced by uncertain features. The construction of aircraft assemblyline is complex and expensive, which makes it hard to change. And its performance can directlyinfluence the aircraft assembly cycle and manufacturing cost. So it is important to model and simulatethe aircraft assembly line in the design stage. According to the research on passenger aircraftassembly process, this paper tries to establish a new modeling method for the passenger aircraft.According to the research status on the modeling and simulation of aircraft assembly process, amodeling method based on Petri Nets is proposed to model the passenger aircraft assembly line, which takes the aircraft moving assembly line technology into consideration. As general Petri Netshave difficulty in describing complicated systems, a Hierarchical Object-oriented Stochastic PetriNets(HOSPN)modeling technology is proposed. Considering that Quest and eM-Plant are widelyused in the aviation industry, this paper combines Petri Nets with the two model software mentionedabove, and uses it to model and simulate the passenger aircraft assembly line. Finally, on the basis of the theory researched, the HOSPN model and sub-model of passengeraircraft assembly line are established, their Quest and eM-Plant model are also built. Considering theactual needs of the enterprise, this paper runs the simulation of horizontal tail’s Quest model and thenproposes the further optimization scheme according to the simulation results, which verifies thefeasibility of the modeling method based on Petri Nets, and provides a new modeling way forpassenger aircraft assembly line.
