Digital array radar seeker is a new concept of radar. Traditionally, the combat platform is aroundthe radar. However, this kind of radar seeker reversed this idea. The system takes the stealth of theplatform as the core of the design. Based on the digital antenna technology, the antenna elements andDigital Transceivers and Receivers (DTR) are arranged on the three-dimensional open space of thecarrier platform to control the corresponding working modes of the radar system through the real-timeperception from the battlefield environment.On the basis of theoretical knowledge of the digital array radar, this paper elaborates the conceptsand working principle of the digital array radar seeker. And it analyzes the existing and potential keytechniques of the digital array radar guidance system. Firstly, aiming at realizing the pattern synthesisof conformal array seeker, the mathematical model of cone seeker is developed. This system selectsthe rectangular microstrip patch as radiating antenna element. And this paper optimizes the modelwith the electromagnetic simulation software. Then in consideration of the variable curvature of theplatform and different orientations of elements, the radiation pattern function of the conformal array isdeduced in details by using the Euler rotation. The pattern synthesis of the conformal array based onGenetic Algorithms is researched, and considering the impact of the mutual coupling of the elements,the new method of array pattern synthesis is put forward. Digital array radar guidance system isconfronted with some gordian techniques in the communication, such as signal transmission, timingsynchronization, etc. An adaptive closed-loop synchronization architecture of wireless transmissionlinks is proposed. This architecture is capable of monitoring the position variances and the phasechanges of DTR modules in real time, and compensates for the phase difference among all elements.Finally, this paper discusses the digital implementation of digital array radar seeker. Based on themethod of digital quadrature modulation, precise control of the amplitude and phase of the radarsignal is achieved.
