Being increasingly shortage of potassium resources on land, after years of exploration and study, Haijing Corporation and other research institutes develop advanced technology, which utilizes zeolite implementing the extraction of potassium ammonium chloride from seawater. With the prompt elevation in industrial automation and rigorous control requirements of production process, it is essential to design and develop sophisticatedly reliable and economical control system.The design of process monitoring and controlling system directing technique characteristics and control requirements for production process is composed of IPC, PLC, related instruments, industrial Ethernet and field-bus technology, which is based on production reconstruction project of the potassium ammonium chloride extraction from seawater.To begin with, the article describes the technique flowcharts and equipments’properties of potassium ammonium chloride production process. Furthermore, the monitoring and controlling system is devised and presented definitely which is based on the running requirements and overall controlling schemes. It primarily consists of the hardware selection and configuration, which involves Advantech IPC, Siemens S7-300PLC, measuring instruments, controlling devices, PROFIBEUS field-bus and industrial Ethernet, and the software development, which contains structured application programs utilizing STEP7V5.4, HMI configuration that embodies simulation flowcharts, remote controlling pictures, alarming and report form windows, user security management, and realization of the self-tuning parameters fuzzy-PID controlling algorithm applying Kingview6.52on the upper computers.Whereas the control regulation of potassium concentration during the production process of potassium accumulation belongs to a pure delay and nonlinear system, it difficult to build accurate mathematical model. Therefore, the self-tuning parameters fuzzy-PID control strategy is enforced in the configuration software of upper computers via the command language interpreter, which is combined with conventional PID control and fuzzy control. In addition, the feasibility and advantages of control scheme is validated through the field operation.
