Visualization of medical images plays a more important role on diagnosis and treatment. But Medical images are usually manipulated by large-scale hardware and complex software platform. This limits the development of the platform and reduces the efficiency of medical workers.With the development of Internet technology, people tends to use more and more online applications instead of traditional softwares installed locally. By researching the Medical image processing technology, HTML5and WebGL(Web Graphics Library), a lightweight browser-based medical image visualization system is proposed in this thesis. The main work of this thesis are as follows:1. Studied the structure of common medical image data and two kinds of visualization methods:surface rendering and volume rendering.2. The browser-based medical visualization system is proposed. The system Consists of two parts:medical image data export and medical image data analysis and processing.3. Export medical image data from Medical image processing platform3D Slicer.3D Slicer uses modules to achieve the functions, a python scripted module was developed to export data.4. Medical image data analysis and processing are implemented on browsers. The process is divided into a few steps:data acquiring, data analysis, data rendering. Besides, interactor was also designed, to achieve simple interactive functions.
