In recent years, along with the more and more mature of the variety of three-dimensional model deformation algorithm, it is widely used in some industries, such as the design industry、 game industry......And it is still a research focus in the field of computer graphics.Study from the present research achievement of three-dimensional model deformation algorithm, while conducting in-depth study and discussion of classic deformation algorithm, we present a Partition-Based Laplace deformation algorithm. And we did a preliminary study in various application areas of the three-dimensional model, then applied the three-dimensional model deformation technology to the craniofacial reconstruction. Finally, we developed two systems for three-dimensional model deformation. The main work of this paper are as follows:(1) Partition-Based Laplace deformation algorithm。 Firstly, the original mesh is partitioned into sub-meshes, and only a reduced coarse mesh is constructed using the boundaries of the identified sub-meshes, then the skeleton-based Moving Least Squares (MLS) is adopted to deform the coarse mesh, and each sub-mesh is deformed using Laplace editing algorithm thus ensuring preservation of its details. Experimental results show that our approach exhibits higher computational effectiveness and allows for smoother piecewise-based surface editing while preserving surface details.(2) The application of the three-dimensional model deformation technology in craniofacial reconstruction. Improved from template deformation based craniofacial reconstruction technique, according to the difference between the feature points that on reference skull and on the unreconstructed skull model, then reference craniofacial model can be reconstructed based on the three-dimensional model deformation technique.(3) The development of the two systems for three-dimensional model deformation. First, we will develop a three-dimensional model deformation system for personal computer, it integrates some basic operations and pre-processing functions for the mesh model, obviously the deformation of three-dimensional model as main function. Secondly, we will develop a three-dimensional model deformation system with Browser/Server framework, the browser achieve the rendering of three-dimensional model and the interaction with user and the server mainly implements the calculation and processing the algorithm of the three-dimensional model deformation.
