Research On Key Technology About Gateway Design In Ad Hoc Network Convergence

The connection and communication in networks with different structure and technology is known as heterogeneous network convergence. The heterogeneous network convergence of Ad Hoc can Share the data resources of basic networks, and expand the coverage of the basic networks.When Ad Hoc communicate with other networks, it needs a gateway which is used to provide the functions of protocol conversion, routing, data exchange and so on. Ad Hoc has the different routing protocols, different net characteristics and different hierarchies with other networks, so appropriate gateway design is particularly important.Gateway discovery and gateway selection are the key technologies of gateway design, they decide the performance of gateway in the heterogeneous network convergence of Ad Hoc. Due to some of the present gateway discovery methods have some problems such as large network overhead, high delay, low packet delivery rate, we design a Multi-factor adaptive gateway discovery mothed of Ad Hoc convergence network by introducing in the discovery Proactive Zone and advertisement interval.Meanwhile, some of the present gateway selection methods have shortages of gateway switch frequently and network load unbalanced. On the foundation of hops, we introduce in the network load and path quality, define a notion of the availability of gateway, then design a Multi-factor gateway selection method of Ad Hoc convergence network based on the gate way availability.In the end, we built a simulation model of Ad Hoc and Internet heterogeneous network convergence. Simulation results using OPNET show that the adaptive gateway discovery and gateway selection method in this article performs much better than the present method, and have improved the performance of Ad Hoc convergence network.
