Electronic warfare is widely appeared in the modern wars, when the active radar detectsthe targets will send out high power electromagnetic wave, and easily spotted by the enemy, for which the application is restricted. At present, the passive radar without emittingelectromagnetic wave, and has the characteristics of high security and strong concealment thatreceived special attentions in the field of radar. The main function of radar is to locating thetargets and measuring the speed, because of the different detection mechanism betweenpassive radar and active radar, due the different positioning methods. In order to make thepassive radar monitoring performance is optimized, the positioning technology of passiveradar has the practical significance. In the passive radar system, there are plenty of opportunity illuminator used as externalilluminators. Among them, when the navigation satellite as a radiation source, the passiveradar antenna need high elevation when receive the signals of navigation satellite, that merelyaffected by the ground clutter and multipath interference, moreover, navigation satellite intime synchronization, wide radiation range, the signal strength is strong, so it is the mostsuitable for used as source of opportunity illuminator. The beidou satellite navigation systemis our own system among the world’s big four navigation systems. As a incollaborative sourcefor target detection and localization with higher security, the development of the passivelocation technology based on beidou satellite have profound meanings. This text mainly study the problems of beidou satellite passive location, and make acontribution to the further improvement of the location accuracy. Firstly we introduce thecurrent research of passive location, and the concept of ambiguity function for radar signals, the beidou satellite signal model is also analyzed, at last, obtain the ambiguity function of single/double stand. We contrast the maximum detected distance between beidou satellite andGPS by mean of matlab simulation, and verified the feasibility of the passive location bybeidou satellite. Subsequently, proposed a method based on Beidou passive location, whichcontains a single station passive location method (using a single beidou satellite and areceiver), double station methods (two beidou satellite and receiver positioning method),multi-station passive location methods (single beidou satellite with three receive stations andusing three beidou satellites with a receiver). In addition, the positioning error caused by thepossible error sources are analyzed, and single station passive location is presented toeliminate influence of one of the key factors in the atmospheric refraction error of the method. That eliminates the atmospheric refraction error of positioning precision was improvedgreatly from the results of the matlab simulation. Finally, by the methods of EKF, purificationof passive location has carried on the track of a single star, increasing the target curve of theanalysis of the change, make its positioning precision will be further improved.
