With the development of the digital media industry, especially in movie and gameindustry, the demands of using computer to create virtual scene are growing, and therequirement of the reality of the virtual scene is also increasing quickly. These demandshave also pushed the technique of computer graphic and related video hardware to moveforward. In recent years, the most hot spot of the movie and game industry is physicalsimulation, the fracture simulation is included in it. In my opinion, the fracturesimulation is the flash point of the physical simulation, it can remarkably increase thereality and the interactivity of the virtual scene.The fracture in the real world just like a chaotic system, It has many initialconditions(material, force value, force direction), and It so sensitive to these parameters,It’s almost impossible to reappear one particular fracture. But, what we can do is tocreate a visual effect of the fracture, It just looks like the real fracture.The thesis is to realize a real-time interaction fracture simulation system, and it basedon the enhancement of the visual effect and the computational efficiency. To achieve thegoal, these works have been done:1.deeply researched the algorithms existed in thefracture simulation filed, the advantages and the disadvantages have been concluded inthe thesis.2.I’ve chosen the geometric shatter method to realize my fracture algorithm.the improvement of my algorithm is based on pre-fractured model and dynamicgrouping.3.according to this algorithm, I’ve designed the fracture simulation system andrealized it. The research results have been analyzed, the work to be done have beenpresented.Here are the main achievements of this thesis:1.A hierarchical voronoi shattering modeling method has been presented.2.Present and realize the dynamic grouping algorithm, it makes the static model canreact dynamically depend on the interaction information.3.Optimize the render module, use the vertex buffer object(OpenGL) to increase theFPS of the virtual scene.
