With the development of science and technology, the data traffic develops rapidlyand occupys the subject of the communication network, the position occupied by thetraditional network TDM traffic gradually is replaced by packet data. In this context, inorder to adapt to the needs of the IP data services better, the generation of packettransport network (PTN, Packet Transport Network) accords with nature. At present,the researchment about PTN network planning and optimization is still very little.Therefore, the researchments of packet transport network planning can not only reduceoperating costs and improve the efficiency of network construction. At the same time,it meets the urgent need of the operators for PTN network planning and optimization.PTN network will be deployed in the metro core network and convergence accessnetwork in future. Then, a large number of technology and knowledge about PTN arestudied systematically in the paper. Combining with network planning andoptimization techniques, a software system of PTN network planning and optimizationis designed.As a pratical soft system, the planning software system divides the planningprocess into several modules. The paper focuses on PTN network traffic distributionplanning and protection algorithm.After studying PTN network characteristics, the algorithm of calculating theintersecting ring network capacity is proposed, which can planning the bandwidthresources to deploy protection ring in the network. Then, the paper researches thesurvival of PTN network, in order to make the network bandwidth resources plannedmeet dual-link failure, at last propose the dual-link fiber disconnected capacityplanning algorithm (DDCPA). At last, the p-Cycle protection technology is researchfurther, Traffic Protection Algorithm in PTN Network Using P-cycle Structure (TPCS)is proposed in the paper, which is innovative in improving network bandwidthutilization and protection switching efficiency.
