As the rapid development of wireless communications and network technology, the smartdevices will gradually integrate a variety of formats of multi-mode wireless terminals. In theera of mobile Internet, wireless network will carry more high quality streaming video andother multimedia business, while the single network will not be able to meet the increasingdemand for users. Predictably, the heterogeneous wireless network access and transmissiontechnology will have important research significance. Due to the differences amongbandwidth, delay, coverage and other characteristics, the heterogeneous wireless networkneeds to be considered in mutual cooperation to its own characteristics. In such a complexwireless network environment, how to make full use of the limited bandwidth of wirelessnetwork and allocation reasonable has become an important issue in heterogeneous networkbandwidth allocation.An algorithm of bit-rate allocation for multi-user video streaming in heterogeneouswireless networks is proposed in this paper. On the premise of initial allocation algorithmbased on distortion and congestion model to provide an efficient system performance, theallocation algorithm based on pricing mechanism balances the real-time requirement ofdifferent users. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm balances the bandwidthratio of different users according to the video complexity, provides a good systemperformance and guarantees the fairness among the users.
