With the increasing development of the Internet of Things industry, as one of its coresensing technology, RFID technology has got more and more attention from scholars,technicians and industrialists. The RFID nodes are sensing points of the Internet of Things.Actually, RFID technology is a kind of non-contact automatic identification technology. Dueto the openness and label low-cost, the security problems are not considered seriously in thefirst RFID system design. However, by the deepening development of the Internet of Things,the using of RFID system has being further popularized, and the performance of the RFIDsystem has also being better. At the same time, the neglected security issues of RFID system,especially the security issues which related to users’ privacy, have become increasinglyseverely. In the future, it will seriously block the further development of the Internet of Thingswhich is based on RFID system. Therefore, RFID system security problems may be the keywhich will lead the Internet of Things to success or failure.In this paper, we have mainly proceeded to analyze the safety performance of the RFIDsystem. We firstly characterized the system safety performance by two levels-physical leveland cryptosystem level, and then we summarized authenticated process of several popularauthentication protocols.By analyzing the several existing popular system authentication protocols, we find thedirection of this paper-to design an RFID system authentication protocol which is not only toreach the system security requirements, but also to have two-way authentication withcomputing conveniently and small amount of key storing and other good performance.Based on these upon requirements, we consider combining use the LDPC codes whichhave good hardware performance and McEliece public-key cryptosystem which has highersafety performance than other cryptosystems. And then, we add generalized inverse matrix inthis cryptosystem to improve the safety performance of the classic McEliece public-keycryptosystem.Then we indicate the well performance in security and calculating by comparing the improvedencryption and decryption algorithm with the classic McEliece public key encryption and decryption algorithm, and so that we say this improved cryptosystem is suitable for RFIDsystem authentication protocol. Finally, we design a two-way authentication protocol forRFID system using the improved McEliece public key cryptosystem and analyze theperformance of the new authentication protocol.
