With the development of civilian and military communication technology, therequirement for miniaturization and broadband in the HF and VHF antenna is veryurgent, and antennas of high performance are badly expected. Furthermore, hugeantenna is hard to set on boat or ship because of limited space within. If severalantennas are set in a limited space, mutual interference will seriously affect thecommunication quality, so they need miniaturization and broadbandization.In this paper, the effect of various HF antenna parameters on the antennaperformance is summarized in detail by means of simulation. We have been proposedthe way of miniaturization, explain its theory and forecasted the prospect of antenna’sminiaturization.This paper studied loading technologies and broadband matching technology, androof loading, resistive-reactance mixed loading and real frequency method weremainly studied. These methods were used to optimize antennas to achieve broadband.By researching the technologies mentioned above, the miniaturization andbroadbandization of antenna were further discussed. Base on it, we explored theemerging reconfigurable technology, which is classified on functions andimplementation of methods, and it was used to achieve the broadband andminiaturization characteristics of the antenna.The new type of short-wave antenna’s miniaturization and broadbandizationtechnique was introduced complete by theoretical analysis and simulations. We presenta suggestion to improve antenna performances by combining these advantages anddisadvantages of the above methods.
