In modern warfare, a cooperative engagement of services and multi-arms has thecharacteristics of emergency, celerity, mobility, great depth, all-dimension andthree-dimensions. Whoever ends in a victory in a battle relies closely on rapid andcorrect dispatch of forces, fire support and air support. In order to achieve highlyefficient command and control in battle, a new positioning and digital communicationsystem is urgently required to provide commander with real-time precise position offorces as well as to firmly guarantee data distribution, battlefield positioning andidentification. This can help know much about the forces’ position, assemble and useefficiently the forces to strike enemies at any time and places while surviving ourselvesand end in a victory.A tactical communication network system is specially designed to meet theabove-mentioned requirements. It is a new integrated system of automatic tacticalcommunication, navigation, positioning and identification and is mainly used forground and ground-to-air cooperative engagement of division, brigade and below. Thesystem improves effectively commander’s ability to command and control subordinatesand forces’ cooperative engagement capability by integrating closely command andcontrol units, combat units, sensor units and weapon platform units.Network management is one of most important sections during the development oftactical communication network system and a key technology for reliable networkedtactical data distribution of multi-user nodes in complicated terrains and electromagneticenvironment. In dissertation, based on the development and application of the TCNSabroad, together with its development requirements, the operation principle of thesystem is detailed, including the composition, performance specifications, access modes,the method of hopping and spreading frequency, the principle of position and networkmanagement. The research on the network management of the system is paid greatattention to, including such the design of different network functions as theestablishment, maintaining, connectivity monitoring, routing, control of message flowand resource assignment. Part of network management software is designed and run inthe joint testing of the system on a basis of network management and requirements ofthe system.
