In the May4th movement ear, influenced by the spirit of the May4thmovement,the event review has witnessed the rapid development, received the splendidachievements, and also embodied the unique style in comparison with other eras. Tosome extent, the event review of the May4thmovement has also established andreflected main concepts of the spirit of the May4thmovement. In the new era, theevent review sees new signs of hope. How to make this “powerful tool” work betterhas become the key issue that journalists pay attention to.Based on this point of view, this paper undertakes the data integration, analysisand research from aspects of the spirit of the May4thmovement, the event review, theevent review of the May4thmovement, the new event review, and etc. From theperspective of the relationship and interaction between the spirit of the May4thmovement and the event review of the May4thmovement, this paper employs anumber of methods, including text analysis, case analysis, historical analysis, anduniversal relation analysis based on the view of materialism.The thesis is consist of three parts. The first part analysis the composition of thespirit of the May4th movement, and researches how the event review of the May4thM7+ement reflected the spirit of the May4th movement through integrating all therelated literatures. In this part, the thesis holds that the event review must be able toexpress the spirit of the May4th movement necessarily, because regarded as the soulof newspapers and periodical, it is the most powerful weapon under the socialenvironment at that time. The second part studies the transformation of the writingcontent and writing form of the event review from the perspective of how the spirit ofthe May4th movement promoted the transformation of this literary form. Then itconcludes that the spirit of the May4th movement was not only inspiring the May4thmovement, but also has a profound influence on the whole social thought and writingcontent and writing form of the event review. The third part introduces the new eventreview in the new period, and tries to analyze the successes and problems of the newevent review, then takes the event review and the spirit of the May4th Movement asexamples to provide the new event review with some experience for reference.It is believed that learning or reflecting from the spirit of the May4thmovementand the event review of the May4thmovement is the indispensable requirement thatthe event review want to play well the role of “public opinion guidance” in the newera.
