A Research On The Sanitization Technology For Data In NAND Flash

Data remanence of NAND Flash leads to serious security problems, which makes thetechnology of Sanitization an important research area. Overwriting is a main method for dataSanitization, the reason of overwriting character and times deserves to be explored; especiallyhow to choose the best character and the least times of overwriting for the emergencysanitization of the NAND Flash is significant. This paper analyses the attack module of the dataof NAND Flash and explores the relationship between the safety of sanitization and theoverwriting character and times, and then the paper has thorough research on the technology ofstorage data sanitization of NAND Flash based on the total overwriting and jump times.1. The principles and characteristics of NAND Flash memory is analysed, as well as themajor data sanitization methods, standards and two data sanitization algorithms of NAND Flashmemory.2. The recovery probability module of NAND Flash data storage based on the total ofoverwriting and jump times is put forward, according to the analysis of attacking conditionsfrom the view of attackers. And the article carries out a detailed analysis of the curvecharacteristic of recovery probability, and the relationship between the recovery probability andthe overwriting character and times. Then it proposes the conception of interval of safetysanitization. Finally the artice provides some advice for NAND Flash sanitization technologies.3. A NAND Flash password carrier sanitization scheme based on Ciphertext protection isdesigned. The scheme includes two parts: the mechanism of data encryption and the algorithmof sanitization for data on NAND Flash. It sanitizes the key effectively, and the cipheroptimizely.4. The NAND Flash controller with sanitization function is realized, and the paper verifiesthe function and performance of data emergency sanitization scheme for NAND Flashpassword carrier.
