As the rapid development of modern wireless system, there is high and strictrequirement to the antennas’ electrical performance and profile. The planer antenna, dueto its unique low profile characteristics, could be easily conformed to all kinds of carriersurface without increasing the volume of the antennas. What’s more, the planer antennacould be made in folded form which is portable and easy to unfold in the practicaloperation. Planer antennas comply with tendency of miniaturization and portability forvarious electrical devices. However, the figure of merit for current common planerantennas has not reach or beyond conventional non-planer antennas. In addition,circularly polarized antenna has a strong capability of anti-interference, a growingnumber of wireless devices using circularly polarized antenna. Therefore, it is urgent tostudy circularly polarized planer antennasBased on the above problem, the radial line slot antennas(RLSA) andshared-apertures antennas are studied in this paper. The fundamental theory andoperation principle of these two types of high performance antennas are deeply studied.The design of these two types of antennas are analyzed and studied in detail. What’smore, the circularly polarized prototype are designed and manufactured, which provesthe feasibility of the design.First, the research significance of the radial line slot antenna and theshared-aperture antenna is described, and detailed summarize the development and thepresent research status for both domestic and abroad. The analysis of the theoreticalbasis and working principle of the radial line slot antenna in depth and the study of thekey techniques of the shared-aperture antenna are done, which laid a good foundationfor the design of the two kinds of antennas.Secondly, according to the above theoretical analysis the RLSA design method hasbeen developed, and simulation of relevant parameters are used to analyze the electricalproperties. The prototype of antenna is designed based on printed circuit board craft andthe simulation results are basically accordance to the measured results, which prove thefeasibility of the design method. This prototype antenna is used to directly receive the signal of satellite direct TV. The TV program signals from ChinaSat9are successfullyreceived.Finally, the X-band and Ka-band circularly polarized shared-aperture antennaelement has been designed separately and16×16and4×4square array are done by theseelements. The Ka-band distribution array pattern that each two neighbor element has180degree difference compared to each other is implemented. The prototype antenna ismanufactured and test. The simulation results and measured results are basically sameand reach to the expected target.
