With the performance of inter-satellite, satellite, space optical links continuing toimprove, by using feature of large capacity and high speed with space opticalcommunication, we can build global coverage of space optical networks connecting tothe advanced ground cable optical networks, then we can build an integrated opticalnetwork which including deep space detectors, space stations, different satellites, planes, ships and ground stations. According to the characteristics of global coverage, theintegrated optical network realized the real-time global seamless connection. At thesame time, the space-based optical network and ground-based optical network arebackup for each other, when the links of ground-based optical network are damaged bynatural disasters or external attacks, the traffic can transmit on the space-based opticalnetwork. On the contrary, when the satellite of space-based optical network is interferedor be attacked, the data can also transmit through ground-based optical network. So thisway can enhance the survivability of integrated optical networks. On the other side, tothose aircraft or ships, which execute a task but are far from land, because the instabilityand easily disturbed of radio waves, the communication between mobile nodes can bestable and reliable through the space-based optical network. Therefore, constructingintegrated optical networks based on laser links has become the trend of thedevelopment of optical communication, it also attracted worldwide attention. Eachmajor powerful country listed it as a major subject of national defense science andtechnology. In this paper, the background is the development status and construction demand ofintegrated backbone networks including ground nodes, air nodes, sea nodes and spacenodes. First this article introduced the system structure and the specific key technologyof integrated optical networks, then this article presents the distributed simulationmethods based on OPNET and introduces the overall architecture of the simulationplatform and the specific design of each parts in detail, this article completes thesatellite networking, ground networking, routing and resource allocation technology, satellite access technology and so on; At Last part, this article tests and verifies the correctness of the simulation platform, also, through the simulation, this articlecompares the network performance of integrated optical network. The Distributed Simulation Platform for Integrated Optical Networks developed bythis article constructed a real demonstration and validation simulation platform. Besides,it can easily complete the network performance analysis and verification test. Throughthe platform, the networking and communication performance, work processes andoperating status of the Integrated Optical Networks have been well simulated, and acomprehensive assessment of the business transfer process was also carried out. Thisarticle provided an authentic theoretical support for the analog assessment andverification of the performance on the architecture, controlling and other aspects of theIntegrated Optical Networks, which consisted of the star-star and the star-ground links. In this paper, the research has a certain application prospects and benefits, and can dosomething to help guide the development of next-generation optical networktechnology.
