Based on the background of a pratical project, this paper focused on AirborneSynthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) simulation technology, the contents of this study are asfollows:1. Based on the basic theory of SAR simulation, the formulation of point andextended targets SAR echo are analyzed, some key parameters are taken into accountaccording to the go-stop‘theory. At last, the electromagnetic scattering characteristicsof targets and trajectory deviation of airborne sensor are described.2. Accroding to the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of targets andtransmission characteristics of electromagnetic waves, SAR can capture the targetobject’s geometric information, so it‘s important to study the electromagnetic scatteringcharacteristics of targets, which in other word can be called Radar Cross Section (RCS).Firstly, the definition of RCS is given, and then with physical optics method and centrerscattering theory, we get some complex target‘s RCS. Finally, based on the SAR echosimulation and image algorithms, SAR image of targets have been given.3. In line with the actual cases, trajectory deviation of airborne sensor is takeninto account and fourier-domain formulation of raw signal with trajectory deviations isgiven, the signal model is accurate compared with2D-FFT signal model. At last, howthe trajectory deviation and random phase error inpact the quality of SAR image isanalyzed in detail.4. A powerful airborne SAR raw echo signal simulator is developed according to’equivalent scattering’ algorithm, which consists two main module, hardware andsoftware. The hardware implementation and software design are discussed detailedly.5. Experiment results and system tests including raw signal statistic, imagequality and real-time analysis show that the simulator can work efficiently andaccurately.
