Since its development by Bosch Corporation of Germany during1980s, CAN Bus communication network has occupied a dominant position in the area of automobile application.However, there is greet disagreement on the application layer protocol among different automobile manufactures, it leads to a considerably unsatisfactory supervision on the network due to difficulties involved in inspecting data within the CAN Bus communication network. This paper tries to design a general testing system fort he CAN Bus network which analyzes information collected from the nodes on the CAN Bus, as well as supervising the performance of the nodes. The paper has conducted work as follows to realize the application of this system:Firstly, Structure of the testing system for the CAN Bus network is outlined after profound research on the protocol of CAN Bus, with detailed elaboration on the design and development of both the hardware and software in the system.Secondly, this task adopts USB interface to realize the communication with computers. With the help of dsPIC30F6013A, which integrates CAN controller, and PDIUSBD12, which is in accordance with USB2.0standard,develops USB-CAN adapter, including CAN interface module, USB interface module and AD module.Thirdly, the development process and related programming are put forward according to the particulars set by the specific programming environment, with a USB driver program specifically designed for the system.Lastly, a visible measurement and control platform is developed on the host computer, which tests the performance and verifies the functioning of the system with the help of PASSAT B5CAN comfort system experiment platform.The subject has designed a vehicle CAN bus network monitoring system. By testing and simulating the system, the system can monitor two different CAN network real-timely in the same time. According to monitoring results, it can be informed of the performance of the entire CAN network and the network data and fault information of each node.
