The Research And Implementation Of ERP Testing Based On TTCN-3

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a system which includes suitable management concepts. The core modules of the ERP system are purchase module, sales module, stock module, personnel management module, and financial management module, and so on.Because of ERP’s long lifecycle, software need continued evolution (including troubleshooting, improvement, expansion, etc.).Accordingly, we need to do continued functional testing, performance testing, integration testing and so on. In this case, the test cost needed increases. So the implementation of test reuse and automation is an effective way to reduce overhead and to improve testing efficiency. TTCN-3language is an automated testing language introduced by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute, and automated testing has several advantages of consistency and repeatability. Therefore TTCN-3test environment is ideal for ERP testing.The content of this article is the design and implementation of ERP testing based on TTCN-3. First, this paper analyzes the architecture and characteristics of the ERP system, the traditional testing method of ERP system, which is compared with the test method proposed in this paper. It is found that the test method based on TTCN-3can effectively improve the efficiency of the ERP test, and support test reuse. Based on ERP system software architecture and features this paper describes the design of the ERP test based on TTCN-3in detail, including the Abstract Test Suite (ATS) design, the design of the adapter, and codec design. Our test is mainly related to functional testing, integration testing, and performance testing.Finally, this paper describes the testing process based on the proposed test method by an actual ERP system (stock management information system), and analyzes the test results in order to illustrate availability and rationality of the test. In addition, the paper also summarizes the TTCN-3-based method for testing this type of ERP software.
