Three-dimensional reconstruction technique is the base of completelysimulating the real world, so the three-dimensional reconstruction technique isthe key research direction of the virtual reality field all the time.Virtual realitytechnology can be used in orthodontic treatment process simulating, which canbe directly used to diagnose and design the corrective plan, at the same time itcan make patients and doctors have a direct-viewing understanding. So thetechnique has an important practical application value.This thesis’s main research direction is on three-dimensional reconstructiontechnique and this technique’s application in orthodontic brackets process. Wehave analysed the orthodontic simulation knowledge, the general process ofthree-dimensional reconstruction, the surface drawing method and volumedrawing method of three-dimensional reconstruction as long as theircharacteristics. Based on the the input method of the three-dimensional datawhich is needed by three-dimensional reconstruction of the teeth model, werealized the three-dimensional reconstruction of the teeth by using Visual C++,OpenGL and other development tools on the basis of STL files, and using theconstructed three-dimensional modle we can translate and rotate correspondingteeth. To get more smooth lifelike three-dimensional triangular mesh model, wehave also used B spline curve to do surface fitting, and ultimately we got theideal orthodontic diagnosis and treatment plan which are based on three-dimensional reconstruction. When verifying the model, we correctly moved theteeth to the position of the ideal operation, and can also semi-automatically orcompletely manually rearrange every tooth along the bow form curve accordingto the treatment plan, in the end we displayed the clinical orthodontic treatmentsteps, and realized the three dimensional simulation of the orthodontic process.
