Virtual crowd simulation has been widely used in daily life with the developmentof crowd animation. Such as making game, escaping from fire building, emergencyevacuation and so on. Storyboard has been used in the area of film production andimage and video application many years. Most of the system use the storyboard forinteractive browsing. The storyboard is also used as a developing tool of image andvideo searching in many countries about twenty years age. It is not only decrease thecost but also can adjust the scale of crowd and the style of moving by computerdynamic simulation technology of texture synthesis to generate the storyboard. Thispaper based on texture synthesis method for generating a story board simulation ofvirtual crowd motion theoretically has carried on the thorough research. We completethe system of crowd animation based on texture synthesis storyboard.The main content of this paper composing as following:1. Design the realistic storyboard for animation. There is much informationin motion crowd. It is not only include the move direction and move pathbut also the characters, age and many micro information of individual.2. Generate storyboard by using textural synthesis. Texture synthesistechnology can effectively extend the crowd motion paths in the form ofpopulation distribution, change of state, thus forming a complete groupanimation story.3. Simulate motion crowd based on group. Showing all of the information inthe3D scene. By using the dynamic grouping, one group only need tocompute the routing algorithm once time and the speed of computing isspeeding up.4. Design the system of crowd simulation. The paper is building with thebase of OGRE and MFC. We use the XML(Extensible Markup Language)as the interface of the system. In this system we can load the crowd modelfreely and control the model moving style.
