Essentially, the passive radar is bistatic or multistatic radar. There is not adefinite transmitter, but only a receiver in passive radar system. Passive radar exploitsillumin-ators of opportunity in the environment. By cross correlating a signalreceived directly from a transmitter with its reflections from a target, the system candetect the location, the direction and the moving speed of the target. Since passiveradar have advantages of a anti-interference ability and a counter stealth capability, itgradually become the hot research topic recently.Firstly, considering the parameters in the bistatic radar equation in the actualwork, performance of LTE passive radar is first predicted in the world to provide thetheoretic foundation for the LTE passive radar design. In addition, we carefully studythe characteristics of the irradiation source of passive radar system based on the FMsignal and GSM signal and analog TV signal. This paper focuses on the LTE signal waveform analysis and completes thefeasibility analysis of LTE signal for passive radar system. The calculation of the theLTE signal waveform parameters, the analysis of the LTE signal ambiguity functionare conducted in detail. And the effect of the different parameters of the LTEcommunication system configuration on LTE eNodeB signal ambiguity function isconcluded. The results demonstrate that: the change of the length of the cyclic prefixor the the LTE signal modulation or the LTE signal frequency bandwidth and centersampling frequency has no effect on its ambiguity function, obviously it will notaffect the LTE passive radar system properties. This shows that the LTE signal aspassive radar illuminators has a very stable nature and have a significant advantage tomany other passive radar system. In summary, this thesis demonstrates the feasibility of LTE eNodeB signal aspassive radar radiation source from both theoretical and experimental aspects. LTEpassive radar system has the ability to detect and track. All the results take a first solidstep to real fruition of LTE passive radar system.
