With rapid development of the mobile communications industry for nearly twodecades, the number of mobile terminals increases. In order to further satisfy therequirements of multi-user, high-performance transmission, RF engineers dedicatethemselves to the design of mobile terminal that has a higher frequency, a greaterbandwidth. In such demands, new generation of wireless communications technology(4G) emerged, many4G standards and4G experimental products have appeared atpresent, making the pace of4G wireless communication more and more close. Newgeneration of high-performance wireless communication system puts forward higherrequirements for designers, especially the demands of multi-standards and wideband,have brought a great challenge to the design of analog front-end. How to reduce thenoise of the receiver to obtain better signal-to-noise ratio and reduce the error rate andthe interference of adjacent band will become increasingly important.The low noise amplifier (LNA) working as the first stage of the wirelesscommunication receiver often plays a vital role for the noise of overall receiver, butalso one of the focuses of designing4G key modules.Firstly, for the band of2500~2690MHz divided by China’s Ministry of Industry,this paper presents a low noise amplifier with multi-stage noise eliminationtechnology in UMC0.18um RF process. The power gain is14.1dB, noises figure lessthan1.15dB, and third-order intercept point greater than3.13dBm. Forhigh-frequency band (2300~2400MHz and3400~3600MHz) divided after theInternational Telecommunication Union (ITU) for4G, this paper designs anadjustable multi-band low-noise amplifier with multi-stage noise cancelingtechnology. Among high-frequency band of2.3~2.4GHz, power gain is14.3dB,noise figure less than1.6dB, the third intercept points greater than-4.67dBm; among3.4~3.6GHz, the power gain is14dB, noise figure less than2.08dB, the thirdintercept points greater than-2.18dBm.This paper designs two low-noise amplifiers with multi-stage noise cancellationtechnology, by matching and optimization, not only reducing the noise figure, but alsoimproving the linearity of the system, and the performance can meet the requirementsof China’s4G band and international4G high band respectively.
