Piping support and hanger design are very important parts of the piping design process in the design of modern power plant. Its pipeline plays as a support, balanced media reaction force, restrict the displacement, prevent vibration and so on. Since the design of piping support and hanger is involved with the information of every design phases, the domestic design institutes still adopt manual design and drawing, only work with2D design and2D drawing, does not participate in the3D design. This method of design is inefficient and easily to make a lot of mistakes. With the3D design work further step by step of power industry in China, The voice of steam water piping support and hanger design into3D design is gradually rising. It is necessary to develop a set of3D CAD software for assisting design of pipe supports and hangers.According to the principle of modularization design, the thesis establishes the frame of the pipe supports and hangers design CAD software for the practical requirement of electric power design institute and fits the needs of the steam water piping support3D design work. This software will use AVEVA Programmable Macro Language development with the object‐oriented program technology and do the secondly developed on AVEVA PDMS system. This software is based on3D steam water pipe supports and hangers modeling. The objective is implementing the functions about3D clash check, hanger draft, and material statistics and is implementing the development for3D Steam Water Pipe Supports and Hangers CAD Software integration in AVEVA PDMS. This project is developed a set of3D Steam Water Pipe Supports and Hangers CAD Software which is based on the practical requirement from the engineering and the defects of existing supports and hangers design software. It can reduce the clash problem to minimum, reduce rework rate, do an accurate material statistics for support and hanger with near zero error of3D design system with PDMS. It is an effective solution to the support free assembly cumbersome, lack of common support and hanger standards of the domestic power industry, not be able to achieve3D graphics and clash checking, supports and hangers library customization difficulties, supports and hangers selection slowly and other issues. The software has been put into use in the actual project of14Electric Power Design Institute.
