Carbon monoxide detector as a gas detection equipment, widely used in petroleum,chemical, steel, coke, natural gas and other industrial sites. Industrial carbon monoxidedetection equipment currently used mostly for fixed detector, which can detect the carbonmonoxide concentration around a fixed point,but this equipment have small detection rangeand join the network complicatly; Some industrial field have portable carbon monoxidedetector, which have single function and lack of networking. If the operating person lossmobility in the event of carbon monoxide leak, accidental injury or physical illness, theexisting detecting equipment can’t provide timely warning and the accident occurred address,that result in major safety incidents.In order to overcome function deficiencies of the above detectors, the mobile carbonmonoxide detector, based on the ARM chip, GPRS wireless communication technology andGPS positioning technology, with wireless transmission function, is designed. The detectorachieve timely warning of the site density, and the base station get the real-time locationinformation of the detector, the real-time data of the carbon monoxide concentration and thelocation information of operating person. The icon of detector in the concentrationdistribution of the base station computer,is following the position of the detector. If that thedetector in a fixed position of non-secure work area continuning15min is detected, the iconwill have a pale, suggesting the base station monitoring staff to confirm the personal andenvironmental safety. The detector can achieve early warning and reduce the accidentseffectively.The microprocessor of Samsung S3C2440chip which based on ARM920T structure isused as the detector hardware. The open-source embedded Linux operating system which ishighly efficient and stable, low-cost, small-footprint is used as the detector software.Thedetector hardware and software is focused, and the software environment is descripted. Laboratory simulation data shows that the designed detector is stable, easy networking,pre-alarm in time. The innovation is that the GPRS wireless communication technology andGPS technology is introduced into the detector.The plant concentration distribution of basestation can get real-time update and pre-accident alarm though data communication. Anaccurate aid is provide by the base station monitor though the geographic information thatreduce personal accidents effectively.
