As the crystal of the processors and information storage technology targetingthe development of miniature, IC card has been widely used in all the sectors ofsociety. Contactless IC card has recently been the favorite in the IC card applicationbecause of its advantages such as simple operation, fast communication speed, highreliability. Among contactless cards, as logical cryptographic card, Mifare1card hastaken a dominant position in the market depending on its sophisticated technology,stable performance and low prices. And many people have concentrated on thetechnology and research of it.Through carefully researching the contactless IC card standard ISO/IEC14443,analysising the Mifare1card MF1S50chip’s structure, transaction process, storageorganization and access conditions, transaction commands and their timing, Thisstudy has proposed a design approach of S50compatible chip which has simplestructure, optmized area and power. The bus structure can not only realize the S50function logic, but also facilitate the development and upgrading of the chip design.Replacing S50chip’s E~2PROM with EFLASH can achieve the organization structureof the E~2PROM as well as effectively reduce the chip aera and power consumption.This study uses NC_verilog to do software simulation verification at variousstages of the chip design, which can discover the proble ms and correct the problemsas soon as possible. Simulation results show that the chip design can achieve thecorrect function, meet the circuit timing and the power consumption requirements.While doing simulation verification, this study has also used the FPGA prototypeverification to verify the interaction and the commands timing between the chipdesign and the reader. The results of the verification show that the chip design canachieve stable interaction and meet the commands timing requirement in the realisticcircumstances of the transaction. This chip design has been laid out in SMIC0.18μmEFLASH technology right now.The discussion of the Mifare1card security issues at last not only addresses theproblems of the Mifare1card, but also clarifies the Mifare1card’s development andapplication space in the future. The safety recommendations which have been madecan effectively ensure the safety of the Mifare1card in use.The result of this study has a strong practical and flexibility of upgrading and development spaces, and also has great significance on system structure design,module design, simulation verification and FPGA prototype verification of a smallchip design.
