The Internet Of Things (IOT) is considered as the third wave of development ofglobal information industry that comes after computer and Internet. It links peoplewith objects, people with people, objects with objects by using intellisense, intelligentrecognition, ubiquitous computing and Ubiquitous Network. In the concept of IOT,"things" have the nature of ubiquity, diversity and mutability. The "things" can be asthe sensor of nerve endings, or the smart terminals or the people. As the bridgebetween objects and objects, IOT gateway is critical in the architecture of IOT. Atpresent, how to resolve technical problem of IOT gateway effectively is becoming thekey point on the agenda.This topic has researched on IOT gateway and relevant areas mainly includesensor network, embedded system, communication protocol and translation, softwaredesign mode and human-computer interaction. Particularly, this topic focused on theembedded system and protocol translation. The IOT must have the ability of sensornetwork accessing, protocol translation and remote control. The achievements of thistopic are as follows:1. Analysed the position of IOT gateway in the IOT architecture, and designed aembedded gateway that support Wi-Fi based sensor network nad RS-485based sensornetwork. Choosed ARM+Linux based solution after synthetically comparison.Adopted AT91SAM9260, made by ATMEL Corporation, as MCU.2. Designed the peripheral circuit of the MCU and other chips. Transplanted2level bootloaders, Linux kernel, Yaffs2filesystem, wire/wireless interface drives andtoolkits on the hardware platform.3. Focus on the IPv4-IPv6translation model and algorithm. Firstly, proposed anet address translation method that support both stateful and stateless translationalgorithm. Secondly, proposed a number of models of DNS and SIP message crossover heterogeneous network, and reliable solutions based on DNS-ALG andSIP-ALG.4. Proposed six models of Modbus message cross over heterogeneous network,and reliable solution based on Modbus-ALG.5. Designd the software system of the IOT gateway based on the LPF frameworkmainly included main control module, communication protocol translation module, human-machine module. The main control module is the entry of the whole system, itinit other sub modules and manage them. The communication protocol translationmodule is consist of NAT module which implement the address translationalgorithm, and PT module which implement IP/ICMP translation algorithm, and ALGModule which manage SIP-ALG, DNS-ALG, Modbus-ALG sub module. Thehuman-machine module is based on the embedded web system.6. Finally, we built a testing system and made a number of functional tests, andtestingly ran on the project of “Intelligent Greenhouse”. The results showed the IOTgateway meets the requirements.
