Nowadays, the material civilization has been highly developed, and the rapiddevelopment of science and technology is changing people’s lives. As the residents’income growth and consumer attitudes changes, the quality and content of cateringindustry are also changing. And this industry remains a compelling hot spot ofconsumption.Considering this background, in order to improve service quality and efficiency ofthe catering industry, lots of wireless ordering terminals have been developed. Theemergence of these terminals could help customers achieve self-ordering. But they alsobrought some new problems. Such as the poor performance of the hardware, theordering interface is only with text, not able to show detail information of the dishes. Onthe other hand, the current ordering terminal just focus on the ordering procedure, and isnot combined with backstage catering management system well.Considering the two problems above, this paper proposes a concept called smartordering system. The system has wireless ordering clients and backstage managementsystem. Ordering Client is based on the Android system, and the backstage managementsystem uses B/S architecture.The client here acts as a wireless ordering terminal on theone hand, and acts as a data acquisition node of backstage management system on theother hand. Android is open source, free and compitable to different kinds of hardwareplatforms, so we choose Android as the client’s operating system. As to the backstagemanagement system, we choose B/S architecture with PHP+Apache+MySql, so thebackstage system could have a advantage of cross-platforms. Considering the usage ofopen source technologies, the whole solution could reduce costeffectively.Works done in this thesis are listed as following:Firstly, finish a research on Android system software architecture, and the Androidsystem porting to S3C6410. Discuss Android-based application software development,and build the android application developing environment;Secondly, design physical architecture, software architecture of the smart orderingsystem. Complete overall design, module design and database design of the smartordering system. Discuss the implementation of the core functionalities of orderingclient.
