Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) and Wire Mesh Tomography (WMT) aretwo of the most developed Electrical Tomography (ET) techniques which aim torecover the internal electrical property distribution by applying drive voltage/currentto the object and measuring a set of voltage/current values on the boundary. Due tothe advantages of non-radiation, non-intrusive, rapid response and low cost, ET hasbroad prospects of application in both industrial detection and clinical diagnosis.Aiming to expand the application scope of EIT/WMT technique, improve themeasurement accuracy and acquire more information, the measurement mechanism, driving method and electrode structure are investigated systematically in this thesisbase on the COMSOL Multiphysics software. The main contents can be summarizedas follow:(1)3-Dimensional EIT/WMT models are established and analyzed by using theCOMSOL simulation software.(2)In order to broaden the measurement space of EIT, an EIT system withmulti-layer electrodes structure is designed and compared with the single-layerelectrodes system. The necessity of multi-layer electrodes structure is analyzed and acorresponding excitation/measurement method is developed.(3)In order to broaden the measurement range of EIT, the real part and theimaginary part of the measurement data are analyzed separately. The feasibility of thismethod is testified by using suitable electrode structure and excitation/measurementmethod we designed. The features of the WMT system are analyzed and specific electrode structure andexcitation/measurement method are designed for oil-water two-phase flow of highwater content.
