With the continuous development of radar technology, radar stealth technology hasincreasingly become an important factor for the survival of weapons systems such asaircraft, ships. Compared with traditional metal structures, sandwich compositestructure is widely used in these weapons systems.On one hand,Sandwich compositehave many excellent mechanical properties, such as lightweight, high strength.On theother hand, it is very suitable for stealth design. For these reasons, research and designof the stealth performance of the sandwich structure has very important significance.This paper first introduces the basic definition of radar cross section and thefundamental theorem of electromagnetic wave propagation. Based on theseresearchers,the basic theorem of electromagnetic wave reflection in multilayermedium was achieved. Furthermore, the basic principle of structural wave absorbingdesign was also founded. Besides the basic material property requirement of each layerwas achieved. And then the radar cross section of metal ball with exact solution andthe metal plate coating structure with experimental results were calculated by FEKOsoftware. The accuracy of FEKO was verified by comparing the calculation resultswith the exact solution and the experimental value.Secondly, the radar scattering characteristic of corrugated sheets was researched byFEKO. Corrugated sheets take structural radar absorbing design and thewave-transparent layer used glass fiber while the wick of corrugated sheet used glassfiber impregnated absorbing materials. The bottom plate was metal. By changing thethickness wick height and corrugated wick angle of the corrugated board panel, theradar cross section in the three frequency was achieved.Finally, the radar cross section of the honeycomb structure in different cellularheight, panel thickness, honeycomb wall thickness was calculated. By comparing thereresults, the regular how those geometric factors concerned before effect the radarscattering characteristic of honeycomb structure was achieved.
