As the widespread application of ultra-precision curved optical parts, higherrequirements are asked to polishing techniques. Because of the high rejection rateand low productivity, the traditional polishing techniques are unfeasible. Incontrast, with advantages of low inertia, fast response and high precision, parallelpolishing machine tools can highly improve the polishing quality.Because ParallelKinematics Machine(PKM) has the characteristics of inconsistent between motionaxis and servo axis, intuitive movement and irregular work space, the traditionalNC is hard to manage it. Open CNC system is flexible and has the modifiablecontrol algorithm, which make it suitable for PKM. In addition, by means ofComputer Graphics Technology, Open CNC that equip with real-time simulationcan remedy these defects of PKM.According to the special processing mode of the parallel polishing machine,an overall functional requirement for CNC is analyzed in this paper. Then takes t hefunctional requirement as a framework, the implementation for the function detailsis formulated based on the PA system.In this paper, the structure of3-PRS is analyzed, and the inverse solution,forward solution are studied. Mechanism of the CNC module is presented and thealgorithms for motion control are embedded in to the CNC kernel in the form ofdynamic linked library.In this paper, the softkeys,the hardkeys system and screen layouts of HMI aredeveloped for the parallel polishing machine. In addition, according to XML,theresponse and function of softkeys are achieved. The process that import aSolidworks assembly into the PA system is established. Meanwhile, A3DS readingmodule is developed. By means of reading the real-time position of servo axis, areal-time simulation system and a parts-model interface plug-in are developed withthe method of OpenGL.Finally, the electrical system for the3-PRS parallel polishing machinedeveloped by HIT is completed. Furthermore, the developed PA system with aspecialized PLC program is applied on the machine.
