Network distributed control is a developing trend in modern industrial automationfields. The real-time requirement of control network on some important occasions isgetting more and more important. CAN bus is a unique advantage fieldbus withextensive application prospects, and the real-time analysis and design of it isparticularly important. This paper studies the schedulability analysis and the priorityassignment algorithm of CAN bus, develops a CAN bus communication and applicationexperimental system, designs some specific experimental projects for the demo ofabove methods or algorithms.On the basis of analysis of CAN bus protocol, the schedulability analysis of CANbus is studied, the CAN bus scheduling model is built, the classical schedulabilityanalysis methods and the scope of its application are analyzed. Schedulability based onbusy period to compensate for the lack of classical schedulability analysis method isanalyzed. Two types of priority assignment algorithm are studied. The first category isthe optimal priority assignment algorithm, including the DM priority assignmentalgorithms and the priority assignment algorithm arbitrary cut-off. The second categoryis the robustness priority assignment algorithm, including the priority assignmentalgorithm allowing the maximum number of errors, allowing the longest delay andminimizing the deadline failure probability.The general scheme of CAN bus communication and application experiments isdesigned. The experimental target and the specific experimental project are planned todemonstrate the classical schedulability analysis, DM priority assignment algorithm andthe the robustness priority assignment algorithm. A CAN bus communication andapplication experimental system is developed. The system hardware and the coresoftware design process are given.The experimental system of CAN bus communication and application can helpusers understand the real-time analysis and design of CAN bus. The research work ofthis paper is helpful to expand the range of theoretical studies of CAN bus and promotethe application of CAN bus in China.
