As a current research focus, wireless sensor networks integrate embeddedtechnology, wireless communication technology and distributed computingtechnology. It is deemed to be greatly applicable in medical monitoring, urbanmanagement, smart battlefield, agricultural monitoring and rescue, etc., for which itwill be one of most potential and influential technologies in the21stcentury.The study about the evaluation model and the establishment of the systemmodel is not good both in domestic and abroad since the feature of large-scale andapplicable correlation makes modeling the basic system component fairly complex. The focus of study shifts from emphasizing on the design of micro sensor node topresent study of network topology and routing protocols based on energyconsumption. Now, it is lack of systematic methodology in system modeling, andthe most of system simulation model in the simulation tools is too simple to reflectthe true characteristics of wireless sensor networks. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct in-depth study of the system model ofWSN and build the basic simulation models of the system including energyconsumption model, network traffic models as well as wireless channel models. Byconfigured these models in NS-2(Network Simulator) simulation engine, weevaluate the energy-consumption characteristics of the modules of node and thenode itself by quantitatively analyzing the output data from NS-2. Furthermore, weconclude that the wireless transceiver shares the most ratio in node module’s energyconsumption. The network traffic model and wireless channel models are to buildabundant simulation scenarios to fit the different wireless network environment.Besides, we propose a route algorithm called location-based distribution energyoptimization protocol(LEDO). From angle of route protocols, we evaluate thenetwork delay, throughput and energy efficiency of the network by calling LEDOand the famous AODV as well as DSR with the conclusion that LEDO is moreeffective in balancing the network energy consumption. In addition, we design anevaluation system for making parameters configuration graphical in NS-2using Qt,which can create various simulation scenarios and generate test charts. Thisgraphical simulation has undoubtedly accelerated the process from buildingsimulation scenarios to generate test data. Finally, we evaluate network delay andpacket-distributing efficiency, meanwhile we analysis the effect brought by route selection for balancing the energy in network and then give distribution graph ofremaining energy of nodes in the network using certain route protocol.
