Recently, more and more academic researchers and people from industry are engaged indeveloping wireless sensor networks (WSN) according to the advances in wirelesscommunication, micro-electronics, and computer technology. WSN is able to cooperativelyperform the real-time monitoring, information collection, and transmit the information to theuser after processing. It has become one of the important means of access to information.However, WSN is composed of massive sensor nodes deployed in the monitoring regionand the network environment is complicated and dynamic which brings a lot of inconvenienceto monitoring users. How users can store, manage, real-time access the mass data collected bysensors and how to analyze these data and make decision become one of the bottlenecks ofcurrent WSNs’ further development. The system of visualization in Wireless Sensor Networks isthe key component of interaction between the users and the sensors and the collectedinformation. An effective system can display the collected information correctly, quickly andintuitively so that the users can make decision swiftly and accurately. Therefore, the reseach onthe design system of visualization components in Wireless Sensor Networks is of greatsignificance to enhance the user management efficiency and improve the accuracy of dataanalysis and decision-making.In this paper, we study the design and implementation of visualization components inwireless sensor network. In our system, the control parameters of wireless sensor network aswell as the collected data are visualized. When visualizing the control parameters, we show theinformation of the network topology, node energy and routing results. Experiments show thatour method can represent the most important control parameters in Wireless network clearly andintuitively. Therefore, the visualization results greatly facilitate users to understanding andmonitoring the network. It can also help network managers to analyze and solve the problemsthat appeared during data collection. For example, whether the nodes have good batteries, or arethe nodes are located reasonably for collecting data. Besides the parameter visualization, oursystem also provides the method for visualizing the collected data. Similar to the visualizationof the control parameters, data visualization also provides good approach for data analyzing and decision-making especially when we processing large and complex data set. Finally, weimplement the system according to the research mentioned above. The system is built byVC++.Net2005, SQL Server2000and OpenGL on Windows XP platform. Applications showthat our system can well satisfy the requirement in wireless sensor network.
