With development of computer information and capsule endoscope, people pay more andmore attention on image processing of endoscope with computer. Using computer networktechnology you can have access to images in any place if there is network which can greatlyimprove efficiency and simplify workflow of doctors as well as improve healthcare deliverysystem of hospitals.Focusing on the image acquisition of OV6920-based capsule endoscope, the study on thedesign of wireless image transmission and storage system of capsule endoscope has beencarried out in both aspects of hardware and software. The hardwares include theOV6920-based capsule endoscope and wireless image transmission system in vitro. We selecta FM receiver and a video capture card as hardware part in vitro. The working principle ofcapsule system is as follows: when testing, the capsule endoscope swallowed by the patientgoes into the digestive tract. With the built-in camera we can film at the specific ornonspecific location of the digestive tract. Video signals, transformed from optical byOV6920image sensor in the capsule endoscope is modulated with a high-frequency carriergenerated by the internal transmitter. Modulated composite video signals are sent through abuffer amplifier to the antenna and then emit in form of electromagnetic waves. Compositevideo signals reverted by FM receiver from wireless electromagnetic signal are transformedinto the recognized signal by UV200and are passed to the computer through the USBinterface. The Software part includes three pairs, such as image acquisition, image processingand database information storage. The software is based on Visual C++development platformand Directshow interface technology which makes acquisition and real-time monitoring ofcapsule image come true. With the use of Access2003we can save the medical informationand images locally, which are convenient to be used to review and diagnosis in future as wellas update, modify and delete on database.The wireless image transmission and storage system of OV6920-based capsuleendoscopy mainly has the following functions:(1) Realizing real-time monitoring of the capsule endoscope. Image can be stored to harddisk in AVI format;(2) Software supports multiple formats video and audio files. It is able to read the capsuleendoscope image saved locally which is convenient for further referral.(3) Questionable picture can be intercepted. Software support multiple pictureintercepting consecutively and previewing at the same time. Pictures can be saved in BMP format if needed.(4) Supporting image processing and appropriate text descriptions adding;(5) Picture information as well as medical information can be stored into the Access2003database in the form of binary data.Meanwhile, supporting database updates and queries.(6) Realizing printing. Pictures and related medical information can be printed out withthe printer.
