The aim of education is the integrated development of human being, which has an ultimate purpose-the eudemonia for human being. As an important part of fundamental education, Chinese education is crucial for students to learn other subjects, which also plays an important role in realization of eudemonia education. The Language Curriculum Standard defines that the unification of instrumentality and humanity is the basic characteristics of Chinese curriculum. However in the practice of Chinese education, the eudemonia in instrumentality is just utilitarian eudemonia and the eudemonia in humanity trends to be nihilistic. Both of them are not qualified as the full-scale eudemonia, the true eudemonia actually exists in the process of teaching and learning of Chinese. In Chinese education, the internal eudemonia presents in the beauteousness of Chinese language and Chinese educational process in courses; the giving of eudemonia is shown in the happy experience and the edification effect on human psyche in the reading teaching, especially the poem teaching; the creativity of eudemonia in Chinese teaching embodies in the writing process by students and the express of students’views in different activities. However, how do the current Chinese education conditions manifest the eudemonia in China? Whether the students gain the happiness during Chinese education?In order to understand the current condition of Chinese education, the information from questionnaire, interview and observation activities were collected in this study. After analyzing the data using SPSS19.0and coding and importing the qualitative data, I found that the eudemonia values haven’t been manifested very well as there is a several lack of the experience of happiness and the creative eudemonia for the students. Furthermore they lack the ability of eudemonia. The reasons for the poor magnification of eudemonia in Chinese education could probably includel) the happiness education has not been advocated;2) Chinese teachers are lack of eudemonia ability and don’t realize the eudemonia value of Chinese education;3) the teaching methods of Chinese education are inflexible and biased.To realize the eudemonia, all the parties should work together, including the schools, communities, and parents. First we need the support of community and the cooperation of educational departments, schools and families, to create eudemonia education surrounding the students. Second, eudemonia education in Chinese education requires the Chinese teacher be a happy person and such a happy teacher should really know the eudemonia in Chinese education in order to influence students by their words and deeds. Third, the Chinese teachers should practice happiness teaching by themselves. This requires detailed reading in reading instruction, promoting the poem appreciation teaching, and the cultivating the students’recitation ability and imagination by the teachers. Furthermore, the Chinese teachers should create a caring and homelike atmosphere for students for the students to think, learn, and communicate and also to create a free, democratic and caring environment. |
