| The fundamental purpose of the teaching reform of higher school is to improve the quality of personnel training, while the improving of the quality of personnel training not only depends on the enhancing of school education, but also depends on the student engagement. Although the teaching reform of our country has been carried out for a long time and we have accomplished great achievements, it focused on the school teaching, especially on the facilities and teachers, it ignored to enhance student engagement to improve the quality of personnel training.In order to improve the teaching quality, deepen educational reform and have a further understanding of student engagement of colleges and universities in Gansu Province, the article use student engagement research questionnaire, which is developed on the basis of "Chinese college students’ learning and development track research questionnaire2011"(NSSE-China) as a survey tool. by the statistics and analysis of the data of the five comparable indicators(Level of Academic Challenge, Active and Collaborative, Students and Faculty Interaction, Educational Experience Enrichment, Support of Campus Environment) from five college in Gansu province, the author described the current situation of five college students on the five indicators to promote the reflection and improvement of setting college curriculum, cultivating students’senior ability of thinking, strengthening the consciousness of active and cooperative learning, raising the level of student and faculty interaction, establishing the platform of study practice, the increasing support of campus environment to student’academic achievement. And through the descriptions and analysis of the present situation and problems of student engagement of five universities and colleges in Gansu province, the author rethinks profoundly about the existing problems of teaching in colleges and universities, and puts forward some advices of improving student engagement situation and deepening the reform of college teaching situation in Gansu Province, including setting up reasonable curriculum challenges, promoting professional development of students; improving the students’ active learning level via problem-oriented learning; creating harmonious relationships between teachers and students to promoting their exchanges; enriching educational experience to improve students’overall qualities; comprehending students’need timely to strengthen the campus environment support. |
