In the1980s, with the rise of "reflection" boom in Europe and America, The nations of the world begin to concern the nature of reflection in teaching. The impression of teachers has become reflective from traditional in the past. Teachers are facing the challenge of teaching methods and teaching evaluation in our new curriculum reform. Only geography teachers improve the traditional teaching methods and teaching reflection ability to become a reflective teacher can they satisfy the requirement of new curriculum reform. However, many geography teachers reflect that teaching reflection does little help to teachers’professional growth. Therefore, It is apparently essential to study how to improve the ability of teaching reflection for geography teachers.This paper, based on domestic and overseas literature about teaching reflection of geography, makes scientific questionnaire. The geographical teachers in Tianjin city area were investigated. At the same time by using the combined method of qualitative and quantitative, the paper systematically analyses and summarizes the survey data, tries to give the corresponding countermeasures in view of current problems existing in the geography teachers’ teaching reflection so as to provide reference to improve geography teachers’ teaching reflection effectiveness.First, on the basis of related domestic and overseas literature on geography teaching reflection, the paper summarizes the current research results of domestic and overseas scholars, and selects related educational theory as the theoretical basis of this paper.Second, on the basis of literature review, this paper defines effective geography teaching reflection, constructs effective geography teaching reflection at the same time and points out that the effective characteristic of geography teaching reflection that should possesses.Third, this paper makes scientific questionnaires and investigates the current status of geography teachers’teaching reflection, using the percent, sorting index and chi-square methods of survey data for statistical analysis.Finally, in view of the cause of the inefficient in current geography teaching reflection, strategies are presented.
