Research On The Development Status And Countermeasures Of Private Collges And Universities In Inner Mongolia

Since the1980’s, private colleges and universities have gradually become an important part of our higher education system, and have made great contributions to the development of higher education in China. Many private colleges and universities have sprung in all parts of the country. Some powerful private colleges and universities came into being in Beijing, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shaanxi, Jiangxi and other places with the education level from vocational degree, bachelor degree to postgraduate. In the meantime, during the development course of private colleges and universities, there also arise many problems, affecting and restricting the healthy development of private colleges and universities.At present, there are eight private universities in Inner Mongolia, among which, six private colleges are in Hohhot, one in Baynnur, and one in Chifeng. All the eight private colleges conduct junior college education. This paper applies the theory of public goods supply and the private capital theory to study the development private colleges in Inner Mongolia. At the beginning, this thesis details the development and contribution of private colleges in Inner Mongolia. Then, the thesis analyzes the external and internal problems in the process of development. For example, the government has not paid enough attention and not given forceful support in terms of funding; the founders’education consciousness of private colleges is not strong; and there also exist the lack of academic atmosphere and research environment. Then, the thesis finds out the contributing factors of the problems, such as the untimely introduction of the policies of private colleges and universities, support inadequate government funding for private colleges and universities, and limitations of private colleges universities and so on. Finally, by drawing on the successful precedents of private colleges in Shanxi Province, this thesis proposes the countermeasures to solve the problems, so as to promote the healthy development of private colleges and universities in Inner Mongolia. The author maintains that, the healthy development of private colleges and universities in Inner Mongolia needs to get supports from the government and the society. Meanwhile, private colleges and universities in Inner Mongolia also need to be improved and perfected themselves.
