In the teaching practice of ideological and political course, teaching material, as a factor of effective teaching, has been attached great importance to ideological and political teachers. Along with the advancement of new curriculum reform, teaching material is increasingly chosen for classroom teaching in the high school ideological and political course. In order to provide the political teachers with some useful methods and techniques of selecting teaching material in their teaching, this paper focuses on the types of teaching material and its selection strategy in high school ideological political course. In this paper, I contacted with my own teaching practice, used the literature research, the investigation interview method, practice method, the analysis of induction and so on. To create effective classroom teaching of ideological and political course in high school, the teaching material and its selection strategy will be discussed in this paper.This paper has six parts. The introduction mainly introduces the research background, significance, research review, and the research ideas and methods of this paper. The text of this paper is divided into four parts. The first part mainly introduces the connotation of the teaching material and its type. In defining the teaching material, I classified the teaching material at the same time, and then I focused on the analysis of the characteristics and the functions of each type of material; The second part focuses on the value of teaching material in the high school politics teaching. I think that using teaching material in the high school politics teaching can enhance teaching effectiveness, make the class more interesting, improve the students’ comprehensive ability and make up for the shortage of textbook and so on; In the third part, I proposed my own views about the selection principle of teaching material in high school politics teaching; In the fourth part, combining with relevant teaching cases, I thought deeply and then put forward some suggestions on screening, presentation, analysis, regression of the selection strategy of teaching material in high school ideological political course. I outlined the main research results of this paper and looked forward to the application future of teaching material in high school ideological political course in the conclusion part.
