The Communicate Language Teaching is a pedagogical system which is also calledCommunicative Approach. The Language Teaching originated in the1970s developedquickly in the1980s. And it was widely accepted in the1990s. The main aims of CLT are“using language to learn’’ and “learn to use language’’ but not “learning language’’or“learn about language’’ homogenously. In Communicative Language Teaching, the finalpurpose of teaching is to acquire the communicative competence through learning foreignlanguage.With the advancing of quality education and actualizing of Standards of New NationalEnglish Curriculum, communicative language teaching has been widely used in manysenior high schools in China. However, the traditional teaching methods still take animportant role in many ordinary senior high schools.In view of this situation, the author did an intensive research and studied on the CLT,this experiment is based on the application of CLT in senior high school and tries to provethe two questions, they are Can the Communicative Language Teaching help studentsimprove their scores of English learning in senior high school and Can the CommunicativeLanguage Teaching improve students’ interest in English learning.The author did this experiment, which is lasted for fifteen weeks’ time. The subjectsare96high school students, which are from Nanlou senior high school in Yingkou. Theycome from two different classes of the same grade, and are randomly named theexperiment class and the controlled class respectively. The students from both classes areequal in number. But they are taught in different methods. The experimental class wasexposed to the CLT theory while the controlled class was exposed to the traditionalteaching method. The author collected data by the means of questionnaires, tests andinterview and analyzed data by using SPSS to study the feasibility of applying CLT inEnglish teaching in senior high school.The results from the experiment indicate that In post-test, the sig (2-tailed) is lowerthan0.05, which shows that there is a significant difference between EC and CC in scoreand interest. That is the application of CLT can improve the students’ scores and interestin English learning. Because before CLT appears, most of the students are not interestedin English learning very much. And the common problem which exists in English class isoften teacher-centered which could lead to much decrease in communicative level. As aresult, the answers can be acquired that the application of CLT theory has a significant meaning in English teaching.
