This article focuses on how to make Korean high school students use nouns oflocality correctly. Since most of the previous researches are scanty of those onspecific groups, we have carried out a survey on the words that students have acquiredand what they will demand in the future study. In accordance with the survey results,we find out the key points and the difficulties in teaching, and draw up a teachingproposal which is suitable for Korean high school students.The teaching proposal is divided into four chapters:The first chapter is the introduction. Of this chapter, the first part is the purposeand significance of this research. The purpose is to make Korean high school studentsuse nouns of locality correctly, and the significance is to demonstrate the pertinenceof nouns of locality in Chinese language teaching. The second part is the researchstatus, including an overview of the nouns of locality, previous related teachingresearches and literature review. The third part is the scope, innovation and limitationof this research.The second chapter is the analysis of the teaching background. This chapter isdivided into two parts. The first part concentrates on the learners’ traits, whichinvolves the words that they have acquired and what they will demand. The secondpart analyzes the characteristics of the learning environment, including the choice oftextbooks and the frequency of nouns of locality in both textbooks and tests.The third chapter is the four specific aspects of the teaching proposal. The firstpart is the set up of the teaching goals, mainly from two angles: the teaching standardsand the teaching contents. The second part is the discussion of the key points anddifficulties in teaching. The key points consist in making students learn to use nounsof locality correctly, while the difficulties lie in how teachers can conduct the teachingof nouns of locality in a way that students would be able to have a good mastery ofthose words in daily communication. The third part is the description of the specificwords,“上”、“下”、“左”、“右”、“前”、“后” respectively, and thereuponthe specific teaching proposal is built. The fourth part is the summary, featured by theteaching methods suitable for Korean students. The fourth chapter is the self-evaluation and introspection. The first part is theself-evaluation of this teaching proposal from the perspectives of the strengths andweaknesses. The second part is the introspection of this proposal, suggesting that theefforts should be made for the future researches.
