Although new mathematics curriculum has been implemented in senior high schoolover ten years, but the status of high school students’ self-learning is still not satisfactory.Well-organized worked examples can effectively promote students’ learning and developstudents’ self-learning ability. This paper reviews the literature about worked examplesdesign, then gives a design framework of high school math worked examples. Designingworked examples of trigonometric function explores the way of using worked examplesfor students’ self-learning.This paper mainly uses qualitative research methods which include literature andinterview. Collecting and consulting literature, combing theory and research relating toworked examples design, this paper puts forward a framework of designing workedexamples. The purpose of the interview is to investigate the role of worked examples onstudents’ learning and the view of teachers and students on learning from examples.The following conclusions are concluded in thes paper:(1) It is feasible andreasonable to design high school mathematics worked examples by three dimensions.(2)To promote students’ self-explanatory and self-reflection is the core of designing workedexamples.Mathematics teaching and learning and textbooks writing can get the followingenlightenments from the point of worked examples design: worked examples are goodsupplements to teachers’ teaching, using worked examples is a way to cultivate students’self-learning ability, and example forms in textbook should be diversified for students’self-learning.
