Textbooks are the important carrier of teacher’s teaching and student’ learning. Inrecent years, with the globalization of education, our country raised a hot wave ofeducation reform, as the top priority of the reform of education, the textbooks reformis more and more attention. In this study, the author compares Chinese excellentphysical chemistry textbooks with foreign countries’and summarizes their style andfeatures. The author advocates that we should introduce choreography concept anddesign style of foreign textbooks in the case of combining with the situation of ourcountry. The author believes that it will integrate some new elements into Chinesetextbooks writing and perfect our textbooks’ shortcomings. This study bases on the theory of comparative education and systemmethodology. The author analyzes and compares with two typical physical chemistrytextbooks at home and abroad (Physical Chemistry and Atkins’ PhysicalChemistry) from five aspects: system structure, content setting, column design, illustration art and exercises choreography, using literature analysis methodǐ contentanalysis method and comparative research method. The author gets some conclusions:1) Two textbooks’ applicable objects are basically identical.2) In the aspect of system structure, Physical Chemistry is conciseǐclear andlogical, but is too single. Atkins’ Physical Chemistry has rich information anddistinct level. Two textbooks’ main structure has a big difference.3) In the aspect of content setting, Physical Chemistry has a wide knowledgecoverageǐhumanities color, but its contents are old. Atkins’Physical Chemistry hasa novel content layout, the contents are modernity but not deep enough.4) In the aspect of column design, Physical Chemistry is conciseǐclear and does not design too many columns. Atkins’Physical Chemistry has many kinds ofcolumns and presents contents lively.5) In the aspect of illustration art, Physical Chemistry has a small number ofillustrations and single color, but its important contents are prominent. Atkins’Physical Chemistry has numerous illustrations which are colorful ǐ clear andthree-dimensional, but they have the dazzled feeling.6) In the aspect of exercises choreography, Physical Chemistry has a smallnumber of exercises and exercises types, but these exercises are refined and logical.Atkins’ Physical Chemistry has huge numbers of exercises and exercisestypes, these exercises are interesting ǐenlightening and modernity. The obtained conclusions bring some enlightenment for the writing the reformof the textbook in our country:1) Try innovative architecture.2) Give advanced nature to knowledge content.3) Improve the tool performance of teaching materials.4) Improve the quality of textbook illustrations.5) Optimize examples and problems’setting.6) Strengthen the construction of three-dimensional teaching materials. This is the first study to conduct a comparative study of physical chemistryteaching materials at home and abroad. It brings new inspiration for the reform andrevision of physical chemistry teaching materials in China,at the same time, it makesup for the current academic research on Chinese and foreign physical chemistryteaching materials. I hope that this research can open up a new road for the writing ofthe textbook in our country and bring new enlightenment for the development of theeducation teaching activities of our country.
